About the League

Advisory Councils

The purpose of League Advisory Councils is to provide policy input and ongoing discussion of matters of municipal concern. To this end, Advisory Councils meet quarterly to make recommendations to the Executive Committee. Advisory Council chairs are exofficio attendees to Executive Committee meetings which are also held quarterly unless in the opinion of the President a 'called' meeting is warranted. During legislative sessions, Advisory Council members are called upon to make frequent trips to state capitol building, attend other meetings and briefings, and read the rather large amount of material that comes via FAX, email and regular mail. Member officials are given the opportunity to sign up for Advisory Council service at the closing business session of each annual Convention of the League.
