Premium Pay

Premium Pay is additional compensation for “eligible workers performing essential work during the COVID-19 public health emergency or to provide grants to third-party employers [non-municipal employees] with eligible workers performing essential work” for recognition of their sacrifices over the last year. Eligible workers may be provided “extra” or “premium” pay in addition to their regular salaries on hourly amounts. This is an area where the Treasury has issued updated information in the Final Rules or most recent guidance. We advise you to check the later documents for a better understanding of the most current rules.
